The cost of dental implants being charged by UK dentists varies considerably, new research has found.
Independent research carried out for Implantium, a newly launched provider of dental implant solutions, revealed that dentists in Britain are quoting patients between £1,000 and £2,500 for implants .
Over 40 per cent of dentists said they charged on average under £1,500 for an implant, but 22 per cent said the average cost was £2,000 or more.
According to Implantium, the huge variance in the cost of dental implants is largely due to the huge difference in prices being charged by manufacturers and distributors.
The group said it is looking to help reduce the cost of implants by under cutting the average market price by 45 per cent.
Jason Buglass, a dentist and managing director of Implantium said: "Dental implants make a dramatic difference to a person's appearance and can have a huge impact on their confidence."
"We are looking to make dental implants a more financially realistic proposition for people by enabling dentists to drop their price for this service," he added.
The findings were based on the 50 UK dental practices that were polled on dental implant charges in August.
