A pensioner who travelled abroad to save money on dental treatment has told of how her journey ended with a screwdriver lodged inside her lung .
Mary Reilly, of Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln, decided to go to Hungary to have £15,000 worth of treatment carried out after private dentists in the UK quoted her twice the price.
However, during the dental implant procedure a half centimetre dental screwdriver was dropped down her throat, leading to an emergency trip to the local hospital .
The 69 year-old told how she was later offered just £100 in compensation from the dentist and was forced to make a further trip to Budapest to complete the work on her dental implants .
Despite the extra trip, Mrs Reilly was still not satisfied with the job and paid a further £2,200 to an English dentist to finish the work to her liking.
She said her misfortune was due to her not having a proper consultation carried out and a lack of research into foreign dentistry .
