A lecturer from Bristol University has been named Dentist Teacher of the Year by the Dental Defence Union (DDU).
Susan Hooper, a consultant senior lecturer in the institution's Dental School, saw off competition from around the UK to land the title.
To be in the running for the accolade, candidates have to show they are committed, enthusiastic, challenging, innovative, as well as being an inspirational role model to those they teach .
Ms Hooper said: "I'm extremely honoured to receive this award and look forward to sharing it with my colleagues in Bristol as I am just one part of a team which has made this possible."
In addition to the award, the Bristol University academic received £250, along with £1,000 cash towards educational materials for the university’s Dental School students.
The DDU is the specialist dental division of the Medical Defence Union (MDU), a mutual, non-profit, organisation that has been operating since 1885.
