NHS Dentistry Boost For Residents Of Derby

Tue, 01 Dec 2009

Thousands of people in Derby are to finally be given access to NHS dentistry thanks to the opening of three new practices in the city.

NHS Derby City has invested up to £300,000 into each of the new dental centres which are expected to cater to more than 10,000 patients on the NHS .

Two of the new practices have already opened for business – Central Dental Practice, in Curzon Street, which has been extended, and Revive Dental Practice, situated at the Revive Healthy Living Centre in Chaddesden

The third dental practice - Derby House Dental Practice, in Green Lane - will begin treating NHS patients in early January.

Prem Singh, chief executive of NHS Derby City, said the new dental practices were great news for local people.

He commented: "We have worked hard to ensure local people have been able to access NHS dentistry but these new services will mean more people can get appointments in the areas they want."

"We looked at the feedback we were getting from patients to help us identify the locations of the new dentists, and also looked at the areas of high need because of the close link to poor oral health within these areas."
