Dental Patients Offered One-Stop Denture Service

Wed, 27 Jan 2010

A new one-stop-shop for patients in need of dentures has been launched at A-Line Dental Services in Sunderland.

The dental centre, which supplies dentists across the North East of England with false teeth, is now offering patients the chance to have their dentures created and fitted within the practice.

A-Line owner Colin Caster said he has cut out the middle man to set up a new facility, which is being run by dental technician Mark Maley.

Mr Maley is one of the first technicians to hold a new qualification that enables him to work directly with patients to create dentures .

Mr Caster explained that people who needed dentures were often very self-conscious, so offering them a service whereby they could talk directly with a technician to create the perfect set of teeth would help them feel less embarrassed about their problem.

"People think it's only those in their 60s and 70s that need false dentures, but there are a lot of people in their 30s and 40s who get in a situation where they've got no teeth and they feel needing dentures is an embarrassment," he said.

"We've now got a facility where patients can talk to the technician and get the exact teeth that they want."
