A dentist from Newcastle has been awarded an MBE for his contribution to NHS dentistry .
Dr Shiv Pabary, who is a dentist and advisor for South Tyneside and Gateshead Primary Care Trusts, said that he felt "magical" when he found out that he had been included in the annual New Years Honours list .
Since graduating from the Newcastle Dental School in 1985, Dr Pabary has also gone on to become the chairman or the professional conduct committee for the General Dental Council (GDC).
The 48-year-old currently works between three NHS dental practices in the South Tyneside region.
In addition to his numerous dentistry accomplishments, the dentist also has a law degree to his name and has been a magistrate for around 15 years.
Dr Pabary’s sister has flown over from India to celebrate his royal recognition.
