Access to NHS dental care in Crawley has been boosted by the opening of a new dental practice .
Pembroke Dental and Implant Centre began offering NHS dental services on Monday (April 11) and will soon have capacity to take on more than 3,500 new patients from the Crawley area.
The surgery offers a full range of NHS dental treatments and cosmetic dentistry services such as dental crowns, bridges and dentures, and is open Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 6.00pm and also on Saturday mornings.
The new development has been possible thanks to a major £1.8million investment in dentistry across the county by NHS West Sussex, which has also helped boost capacity at a number of existing practices in West Sussex and resulted in two further new practices being set up in Worthing and Chichester.
According to the PCT, the investment will create an extra 6,300 NHS dental places a year for people in the Crawley area and an additional 25,000 places across the whole of West Sussex.
David Grant, NHS West Sussexs Dental Contracts Manager, said: "We have been working hard with dentists across the county to increase the number of dental practices offering NHS dental services to West Sussex residents and are really pleased that the Pembroke Dental and Implant Centre is now opening in Crawley."
"We know that there are many people who think it is impossible to find an NHS dentist, but the reality is very different now. One in four of NHS dental practices in West Sussex are taking on new patients and the latest figures show that 92 per cent of people in West Sussex who have tried to get an appointment with an NHS dentist in the last two years have been successful.
"We know the opening of the Pembroke Dental and Implant Centre will increase that even further.
