A foul-mouthed dentist from Shrewsbury has been stuck off the Dentist's Register after being found guilty of offensive, unacceptable and unprofessional conduct.
A General Dental Council (GDC) committee in London heard how Matthew Walton, 35, regularly broke wind and belched during appointments at Green End Dental Practice in Whitchurch, Shropshire.
He also told a patient he had bad breath, exposed a nurse to X-ray radiation, made derogatory comments about unemployed patients, asked patients to show their money before providing treatment, and made "V-sign" hand gestures to patients and staff behind their backs.
Charges of offensive remarks on patients employment status, disabilities and ethnic origin were all upheld and the GDC committee told Walton it had taken into account his "lack of insight and lack of remediation".
The panel ruled that immediate suspension of his registration is necessary "for the protection of the public".
Unless Mr Walton appeals his name will be erased from the Dentist's Register in April, meaning he cannot legally work as a dental professional in the UK.
